Recently I learnt the reason why a lamb’s head will have oil poured onto it and it blew my mind!
Before I share this amazing fact with you, I’d like you to keep in mind Psalm 23;
”The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.“
Psalms 23:1-6 NIV
I could not just share verse 5 with you, this entire Psalm I love. There so much to unpack here but I will stick with the oil.
There’s something about the oil. The anointing oil of God. 🥹

Look, I won’t write much further because this alone should have given you a lot. If it not so, then let me tell you that Jesus truly is The Good Shepherd!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your love and compassion toward us Your sheep. Thank You for Your oil. Please my Jesus, I pray that each and everyone reading this will come to Your throne of grace, leave all their cares and burdens at Your feet and bow their heads as You anoint them with Your oil. And when we stand up here that, we will be renewed in mind, taking up Your cross and know that life without You is not life at all. Thank You Jesus for my being our Lord and Saviour.
