Let's journey : 1 Corinthians part I

Updated: Mar 19

This will be first post that will start off this Bible study journey. I invite you to read 1st Corinthians, make notes and more importantly actually; first pray.

Seek the Lord regarding this. Lord Jesus will of course want us to go deeper in His Word. As we know the Word of God is our compass and truly the Bread we need. So, I urge you, to seek confirmation from our Father as we set out to get to know Him better.

I am sure just as I, you too have had prior bible study commitments and may even be going through one now already or even if you have not, do not feel pressured to commit to something you may not be comfortable with right now.

However, as mentioned, today I start with 1st Corinthians.

Tips I will share before you start;

📌Pray.

📌Set time apart, read 1 Corinthians Chapter 1 - allow the Holy Spirit to impart what He feels fitting.

📌Make notes - get those highlighters and cute color pens out.

God's power & wisdom

Jesus Christ' crucifixion tells of the immense power & wisdom of God our Father. 💪

Today, people are still out here losing their minds regarding the crucifixion of Jesus Christ!

Isaiah 29:4, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.

God's wisdom & God's power is completely irrational to a human being who depends solely on their own logical reasoning & their own emotions. The message of the cross speaks directly to the power of God. Many of us do not understand this because we are stuck in our own minds.

God has made foolish the wisdom of the world, truly and most certainly.

Even though the message of the cross may seem foolish to some; through the foolishness that was preached pertaining to this life changing event, God was pleased to save those who believed. There are few that were (and are) called, who actually believe in this message & by His grace, God saves them. 🙌

Remember the saying; 'seeing is believing.'

Some people believe in signs & some in wisdom. Jesus Christs' crucifixion was said to be a stumbling block to those people who believe in signs and to those who believe in wisdom, say of this to be complete foolishness. But we're reminded that those God calls, that to us the crucifixion of Jesus Christ speaks of the mighty power of God and the awesome wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 1:25, For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

Remember your mess God saved you from.

Paul directs us to think about the time and place we were in, when we were called by God. When God called you, do you remember that person you were. I know I was not worth saving but God saved me. Still, I am underserving of His grace and His mercy and His love but yet He called me.

💭Not many (if any) of us were wise according to human standard.

💭Not many (if any) of us were influential in our own right.

💭Not many (if any) were of noble birth.

Yet God chose you, not because of any special thing you could do.

1 Corinthians 1:27, But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak thing of the world to shame the strong (think about David, his brothers & Goliath)

God chooses the lowly, rejected & even the despised things of the world so that no one may boast before Him. So that no one can take pride before Him. When God chooses you, there is no way you can say; 'because of my education' or 'because of my strength'. 😕Once you can boast then have you truly been called by God.

It is & can only be because of God that you're in Christ Jesus.

Jesus became for us the wisdom from God- that is, our righteousness, holiness & redemption. (1 Corinthians 1:30)

Read Jeremiah 9: 24, Let those who boast, boast in the Lord.
