dead to sin, Alive in Christ Jesus.

Updated: Jan 4

Jesus is alive, catch the vision

Romans 5;21 - so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I do encourage you to read the book of Romans. Seek the Lord through His Word and He will provide understanding and through His Spirit, you will experience revelation that only God can give. But you got to make the choice and time to read His Word.

At this point I am at Romans 6, where Paul begins with the question; Just because there is an increase in grace does this mean we may continue to sin? Of course not. We ought to die to sin, essentially choose to no longer live in sin. The next natural question is, how do I then die to sin and be alive in Christ? (where do I start)

Baptism, that is the answer. Or rather, that's only the beginning of the answer. It is more so a public declaration of the decision you had already made in heart when you decided to give your life to Christ Jesus. Jesus died for our sin. He was the atonement. He died our death for us. No person can do what Jesus has done for you. Sure, a person can take a bullet for you, run into a burning house to save you, certainly. But no person can do for you what Jesus can.

When you're baptized into Christ Jesus, essentially, you're baptized into His death with Him. You die with Jesus. As much as you weren't there on the cross beside Him at Calvary - He had you in mind when He hung on that cross. So yes, you too are crucified with Jesus when you're baptized. What is amazing is this; just as Jesus was resurrected, so are you. Christ Jesus was raised from death through the glory of the Father. And so, we are also raised from death with Him to experience a new life with Him.

Romans 6;5-For if we have been united with Him in death like his, we will certainly also be united in Him in a resurrection like His.

With Jesus, we are then set free from the sin our past selves were held captive to.

Romans 6;6-7, For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin - because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

I have come to learn that after one has made this decision to live a life for God through Jesus and when one has been baptized, things get tough. There are a few things to keep in mind.

📌Death has no mastery over Jesus and since you have been risen with Him, death is not your master, you are alive in Christ Jesus.

📌Do not let sin reign in your body, do not entertain sinful thoughts/desires, because if you do, you will obey the flesh.

📌Do not offer a part of yourself to sin, for instance do not set your eyes on things that you know is not from God such as debauchery, keep your lips from gossip and dissension - this will only lead to discouragement, defeat and imprisonment.

📌Offer yourself and every part of you to God as instruments of His righteousness.

You had been set free from sin, before you offered yourself daily as slave to a life of sexual impurity, and ever-increasing wickedness. Whereas now you have been made free from that sinful nature. So, right now you ought to decisively offer yourself to be a slave to righteousness ➡ which leads to holiness ➡ which results in eternal life.

😞Living in sin - the benefit is nothing but death and shame.

🎀Living in Christ Jesus and the righteousness of God - the benefit is holiness and eternal life.

Romans 6:23- For the wages of sine is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
