A day of reset.
Day 5 fell on a Sunday, otherwise known has the Lord's Day. Truly every day is the Lord's Day. (Psalm 118:24)
Did you go to church? good for you!
Did you ever not go to church and have a valid reason like work for instance?
Well, I am sure there are many people who have not gone to church for valid reasons but when you do happen to go the next Sunday - you get the stink eye or the raised eyebrow. I love church and really love the culture. I believe every church peoples are different, but the same type of culture seems to exist especially if you happen to miss a service. I live to experience some place different.
I encourage you to go to church when you are able to do so. Fellowship amongst other believers is necessary. This does please the Lord. At the same I really do want you to know that the stink eye will come and the raise eyebrow too. Sometimes you will hear the gossip too and maybe even have a bold sister come right up at you to ask you about your business with a tone of judgement. Bless her, and if you wish to share then do so but you really do not have to. I need you know that you are not obliged to explain your absenteeism to everyone. Those who must know will know.
I am not any point saying that you should have the attitude of informing peoples beforehand as if you are taking annual leave from work. No sis, unless you on the worship team or ushering team then sure inform who needs to know. But, if you are not part of the latter, the (church)friends you keep will obviously know what's up and that's enough. I do know of some church pastors that will come to your home and do a check-in to find out what's up, and I completely welcome that. It shows you actually care for those you shepherd. I know in some cases this wasn't the case because they cared but rather merely a job to do but there are really those who do care and I am here for that. I feel like we lack that commitment - it seems the focus is on filling the chair and not knowing the who that is filling the chair. #sadly
Nevertheless, let this not steer us from the gathering of the saints. Church is meant to be filled with different peoples, in order for us to grow and it teaches us to really focus on Jesus and have Him guide us on how it is to love others the way He loves us.
Hebrews 10:24, and let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love & good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Day 5 to-do-list looked like this:
Prayer - always.
In deepness of the Word of God - not a day to go by without doing so.
Focus purely on God's will - I had a decision to make after working a 9-hour shift, do I go to the evening church service or make sure my young daughter is all prepped up for school the next morning. I am a single mom (for now) and accepted that my ministry begins at home so - I will stay home and steward where I am needed most and try again next Sunday to attend the service.
Sunday is always a day for a fully cooked meal, by the grace of God.
1 Timothy 5:8, Anyone who does not provide to/for their relatives, and especially for their household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
