Before you start reading thought I'd share with you what sports mode looks like!
Firstly, please excuse my ignorance & naivety as I found out about this recently and I found it completely hilarious!
Secondly, whether you wear faux crocs or the real deal or if you don't wear them at all, that's great because my post has nothing to do with your shoe preference actually.
When I thought of the instructions Paul gave Timothy and how he encourages him in 2 Timothy 2. I felt it hilariously fitting to connect endurance with crocs in sports mode.
It is kind of silly, really.
But the point is, this walk with Christ Jesus is not a cake walk. It is not all sunshine and flowers. I mean even in a beautiful garden on a hot spring day. My hay fever has me in twists and my tears flow like waterfalls, thanks to allergies. So yes, nothing is just easy peasy.
We are in a race, a race to serve Jesus and make His gospel known. The race we run is actually running after His righteousness, His faithfulness, ultimately to live like Jesus. To please God through His Son, Jesus. So, we need Him to know how to run.
'If anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules...' 2 Timothy 2:5
'Consider what I say for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.' 2 Timothy 5:7
'Our private time with God is the most important and vital time of our day. It is the core around which everything revolves. Yet too often we treat it like the least important time. We serve many things before we serve God and take our delight not in the joy of our relationship with God but in the sense of accomplishment, we feel for having completed our 'daily' list of necessary tasks.
Putting God first is not about time or timing; it's about the attitude of our heart. It's when your heart is distracted away from God that He becomes grieved, and you may feel as though He is no longer close to you. You can be so preoccupied that you may not notice for days, or even weeks.
Do not miss the point of life!
Do not choose the way of the world - an existence built on lists and projects and deadlines. That is the way of works. It only leads to death.
Instead, take your life from the wellspring of joy that comes from communing with God.
Consider where you gain your life, it is that thing that will rule it.
There is no real life apart from God - only the illusion of life. Don't be fooled but be strong in the Lord. It is God's desire to walk with you daily. Focus on Him in the way He focuses on you. It will take time and endurance, but that is the way of genuine life. Hold steadfast, and you will reap an abundance of joy.'
